Things are going pretty well, I did 11 on Sunday, 7 on Monday and 8 yesterday.   I still needed to stop and stretch on Sunday and Monday but yesterday was quiet and considering both Monday and yesterday were slower paced runs (which makes IT pain hurt more) it’s a good sign.  Today I’ll go for 9 or 10.

I’m in good spirits because I’ve been keeping busy.  After I got Gifted Runner redone, I redid another one of my t-shirt sites (x-rated shirts and no, I won’t provide a link (h) ).  After all this re-making of old crap, and to wipe the nasty off, I was inspired to do a brand new t-shirt site based on sweet, innocent kiddy designs.   I’m still working on adding stuff, but here it is, AdorableShirts.com.  Forgive the stupid name, that’s me whoring for Google’s attention.

I also sold my first ad space on Websitebeginner.com last week which was a giggle-worthy event.  Sometimes I get emails from people inquiring about advertising and because I really don’t know how to deal with pricing for it, I just toss the emails away.  This time, because I need the moolah, I replied and the guy was very easy to deal with, so it worked out great.

While we’re on the subject of cash, yesterday morning I had a voiceover for a funny commercial, one where I start speaking at a normal rate, then speed up till I’m talking super fast – was great fun.  But it’s been slow for VO work the past month.  I’m up for another funny one, though, where I play a Language Instructor teaching Swedish – I had to learn the pronunciation off an mp3 for the audition.  I got a call yesterday that it’s between me and one other person, so crossing fingers I’ve got it.

I’m still planning on racing that 5K this Sunday, though it’ll be a hot one and I’ve not done anything fast since the last race, so no PRs for sure.  I might even ensure a particularly sucky time by getting drunk the night before since my friend’s having a party.   But then I’ll have to leave my magic shoes at home because that would be embarrassing to suck in magic shoes.  Then again, the race is “Run For Cover” to fight melanoma and I don’t wear sunscreen half the time, so I’m a total poser anyway.

  • X Rated shirts, that is too funny. I hope you get the voice over gigs! I always look for you in our training videos at the bank, IIRC you mentioned some of those right? Hope your IT band keeps healing.

  • I hope you get the voice over job. That sounds like a really fun gig!

  • I’m imagining some of those kiddy designs on running shirts. The ‘Vroom” helicopter, would be fun, and of course the turtle.
Good to hear the ITB is behaving. Good luck in that 5K. Wear the magic shoes anyway!

lol. okay, i shouldn’t laugh but i am relieved there is another runner who “forgets” the sunscreen once in a while. the best thing about being injured and forced into the pool for the past 3 months is i finally got rid of my terrible tan lines from all my running tank tops (now they’re from athletic bikinis).

good luck with the VOs! are these national commercials you do work for?

  • LARunner:

I’m really curious about the x-rated shirts. Like profanity or what? I’m the girl that slows to look at car crashes, too.

Don’t worry about the race; you’ll rock it, as usual!

  • Flo:

Preston, don’t look too hard for me, I haven’t done any bank training stuff yet, but I appreciate you thinking of me. :-)

    Christi, thanks girl!

Jim, you’re so smart, I didn’t even think of mixing the two since the kiddy ones are so juvenile, but yeah, why not? I’ll add them. Good luck with your race this weekend, too!

Sara, that’s a shirt I want to do, “The Runner’s Tan” because those lines are totally silly looking. I had to give up halter tops this year, it looks too weird, will stick to racerbacks from now on. Sometimes the VOs are national, I think the Swedish one is, it’s for Rita’s (water ice & ice cream shops).

, you would so die if you saw my shirts, I know how you feel about profanity – though they’re not “profane” exactly (well, a couple are), they’re fetish shirts for a myriad of kinky predilections. I figured sex sells, so why not try that route? It doesn’t get a lot of traffic, though I did have a huge surge of foot fetish traffic last year due to a nice comment on a “trampling” forum of MistressDestiny.com. I’d never heard of trampling till then, lol. Funny what folks get up to.

  • Judy:

I’ve been following your blog for a while — admiring your steady progress and enying your speed — but just thought I’d let you know that your posts after your last race report don’t show up when I open your page. I only can get to them by going to the June 2009 archives. Wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

  • Flo:

Judy, thanks for the heads-up (and for reading the blog) :-). Not sure if this was it, but I just found something weird with my cache plug-in so I fixed it, let me know if that made a difference. Otherwise, I’m stumped.

  • Judy:

    Fixed! Thanks.

  • LARunner:

Okay, I definitely need to stay away b/c I don’t even know what you’re talking about up there! I’m going back to Sweet Naive Fairytale Land.

  • Kazz:

Too bad I missed the x-rated stuff…but the “Adorable” stuff is great! My son would probably dig the train. His mom would probably like one of the two beer related shirts from TGR, too….

  • Flo:

    Judy, yay! :-)

    LARunner
, you are so cute, I want to squeeze your cheek.

    Kazz,
thanks girlie! I thought of you beer guzzling babes when I did those. Yay on the Hudson thread, glad to see you there!

  • I am also bad with the sunscreen. I need to start to use it, when I run.

  • Ewen:

Where’s the adorable Wombat? Congrats for #1 on Google.

I can’t find the ad on http://www.websitebeginner.com/ ! By the way, “auto advertising” might be worth a try – CoolRunning Australia use this for their small ads at the top of their page. The client does all the work – submits the tiny banner-ad. The site use some sort of script to choose and display the ads and the client gets billed by the number of times the ad is loaded. Only problem is it seems to slow the site loading a tad – all the ads have to be loaded and displayed before the full page will load.

Wear the magic shoes – they’re worth 15-20 secs over 5k – you might run a PB.

  • Flo:

Flyers, I know, I gotta be better too.

Ewan, oh wow, thanks for alerting me to the #1 spot, my nefarious plan worked…and fast!! It’d be amazing if it sticks (Google hates me half the time).

And Lol, you ad hunter, you. That’s the best part, it isn’t an obvious ad, it’s just a link in the midst of a paragraph on the web hosting page. I know what you’re talking about with the “auto” banners, I had some ads there at one point from my own devices (affiliate marketing channels) but the small return wasn’t worth having those big ads there so I took ‘em down. Wombat…great idea!

  • Jackie:

Now don’t go gettin’ a PR while hung over then you’ll have to make it tradition. Haha! I hope you get the job. Good Luck this weekend! I’ll be thinking of you. I also hope the party is a ton of fun.XOXO-HG

  • Flo:

Thanks sweetie, don’t go betting all your birthday money this weekend. :D Have a great time in Vegas and I’ll drink an extended toast to your new age! (that’ll be my excuse, anyway)

  • This is not about running, but you’ll forgive me I’m sure.

    Enjoy!

  • Flo:

Jim, that’s wonderful!! Thanks for posting it, hilarious!

  • Last winter my daughter’s and I were in a commty theatre production of “Miracle on 34th Street”. If you know the movie, my daughter was the little girl who doesn’t speak till she see’s Santa, and then they discover she only speaks Dutch. My dauhter had to learn the lines from a tape recording of an old man speaking Dutch, and then try to cry while saying them. She finally made up some fake words that she says mean “Join the dark side, Santa”. Too much Star Wars and not enough Santa in our house, I guess.

  • Ewen:

I followed that link! Didn’t think it was an ad though. Clever!
