Tramp Stamp!

No, I didn’t actually get any new ink, but check out my lower back from Sunday’s 21.

How ironic, I make a design about chafing in places you’ve never heard of and I end up doing just that to my own body.  I mean, who chafes on their lower back?  Is nothing sacred?  Shitty shorts, is what it was.   They were soaking wet the whole time and they have a pocket in the back that I had a couple gels in, which probably didn’t help, but I think the main offender was some poofiness of fabric surrounding the waistband elastic.  Anyway, it’s two days later and the tramp stamp is still there.  I’m a branded runner.

Moving along, last week my total mileage was 55, this week Pfitzinger takes it down a notch mileage-wise with a total of 48. Today was an easy-shmeasy, 6 recovery miles, tomorrow is a mid-long 15, then a couple more 6-mile recovery runs (Saturday’s with strides), then come Sunday…my first Marathon Pace run!  I’m looking forward to it, actually.  It’s also 15 but with 12 MP in the middle.  My MP at this point is 8:23 (for a 3:40 marathon), so we’ll see how it goes.

Today’s most fabulous song for recovery was Wild Sweet Orange’s “Ten Dead Dogs” It makes me really sad, but in that beautiful bittersweet way only a good breakup ballad can do.

    Flo,
I did a long run a few months ago and threw on a fanny pack with some extra supplies in it. We could have had matching tramp stamps! That sucker hurt for about a week :)

  2. Flo Says:

So nice to know I’m not the only cheap and tawdry runner. :D

  3. Grenlee Says:

Ouch. That must hurt pretty bad. I used to get that kind of thing from my sports bra before I discovered body glide. I’m surprised it’s still there after two days. Usually chafing heals insanely quickly.

  4. Flo Says:

I’m surprised too! My usual little thigh chafe goes away really fast, but this one did a number on me. If I wear those shorts again (they were fine for mid-longs), I’ll use a bucket of Body Glide there, that’s for sure. Also, I should clarify, the pic was taken the afternoon after the run, it’s not so pink now, just crusty. Eeeeewwwww. :D

Flo, were the shorts clean on that day? I’ve had chafing probs when I wear something more than once. I think it’s salt accumulation that does it.

  6. Flo Says:

Clean as a whistle. I’m ashamed to say I don’t need to wear my running stuff twice because of a horrible case of CRCSD (compulsive running clothes shopping disease).

  7. Jim E Says:

haha, In my case ist’s SRTODM - Solo Run Today, Odor Doesn’t Matter. Maybe it’s a guy thing.

  8. Bruce Says:

Nice backside. I been lucky when it comes to chafing, long has avoid short shorts.

I think I suffer from CRCSD too, some times im worse then a teenage girl at the mall in a running store.

  9. Chef Betsy Says:

YEEOUCH! I too get tramp stamp chafing sometimes from my fuel belt. I’ve found if I wear the bottles vertically then I get chafe, but fortunately I can also wear them horizontally (although I can only carry 2 if I wear them that way). Of course, I don’t realize I’m chafed until the hot water hits it after the run; double YEEOUCH!

  10. Heidi B. Says:

I too have a matching tramp stamp. For some reason though when I chafe there I don’t even realize it, my husband informs me of it. I have much more problems with my chafing under by boobs! Bet you will feel better knowing that!

HA! Your tramp stamp actually looks a lot better than mine, which was more like a fraternity branding when my shorts first started rubbing back there from shorts on long runs. It’s healed up from wearing skirts for long runs but there’s still a fugly scar there….oh well.
