Just a quickie to let you all know I added 9 new designs to The Gifted Runner today, so go check ‘em out.  Might be worth a snicker or two.

Also, I’ve been wanting to add a customer photo page to the site, so if you own a Gifted Runner shirt or other Gifted Runner item, email me (email address is on the Customer service page of the shop) with a photo of you wearing it or holding it (for the non-shirt items) and I’ll post it for the world to see.  Thanks!

Two blog posts in one day but this is the one I’ve been dying to post for the last couple weeks…

OK, The Gifted Runner 2.0 is finally live for public consumption.  Take a look and let me know if something is weird or wrong because at this point, I’m absolutely cross-eyed.

No pressure for anyone here to ever buy anything ever, but if you spread the word among your running friends, I’ll be ever so grateful.

A couple fab things with the new site:

1. The shirts are customizable!  You can add your name and/or a message or graphic to the opposite side of the shirt for only $3.40.  You can actually attempt to add it to the existing graphic side for free, though you’ll probably have to mess around with my graphic to get it to fit.

2. A lot of the gift items are also customizable, you can change the background color on many of them so have at it…make that refrigerator magnet match your kitchen!

2. Besides the wicking shirts (yay!!!) there are tons of different regular t-shirt styles and colors.  Just click one of the picks under Fashion Shirts on each design page, there’s a link that takes you to all the available colors and styles.

3. I’m open to requests.  If you see a design you’d like in a different color, I’ll do it for you.  Ditto a design on the front or back that you’d like on the opposite side of the shirt, just email me through the customer service thing and I’ll post it with the rest of the collection.

I hope you like it.  I’m on a mission to keep designing and adding new stuff on a regular basis, so if you don’t like anything yet, keep checking, there might just be something for you there eventually.

Whew, I think I need a drink.

No, I didn’t actually get any new ink, but check out my lower back from Sunday’s 21.

How ironic, I make a design about chafing in places you’ve never heard of and I end up doing just that to my own body.  I mean, who chafes on their lower back?  Is nothing sacred?  Shitty shorts, is what it was.   They were soaking wet the whole time and they have a pocket in the back that I had a couple gels in, which probably didn’t help, but I think the main offender was some poofiness of fabric surrounding the waistband elastic.  Anyway, it’s two days later and the tramp stamp is still there.  I’m a branded runner.

Moving along, last week my total mileage was 55, this week Pfitzinger takes it down a notch mileage-wise with a total of 48. Today was an easy-shmeasy, 6 recovery miles, tomorrow is a mid-long 15, then a couple more 6-mile recovery runs (Saturday’s with strides), then come Sunday…my first Marathon Pace run!  I’m looking forward to it, actually.  It’s also 15 but with 12 MP in the middle.  My MP at this point is 8:23 (for a 3:40 marathon), so we’ll see how it goes.

Today’s most fabulous song for recovery was Wild Sweet Orange’s “Ten Dead Dogs” It makes me really sad, but in that beautiful bittersweet way only a good breakup ballad can do.

Finally! The Gifted Runner is up and happening.

I’ve been kicking the idea around for a while now, designing runner-centric t-shirts and gift stuff, after all it is a subject I’ve become completely rabid about. Granted, the original idea was based solely as a tax write-off. I mean, how lovely to have a legitimate excuse for deducting race fees, shoes, everything really. But somehow, even that wasn’t enough to get my ass moving. All it would have taken was adding a couple designs to Fish Pie, but I just wasn’t feeling it.

Honestly, my main concern was “what would my forum peers think?” I didn’t want to design something I’d be semi-embarrassed about, but rather stuff that makes sense to me and my vision of running. Thus, you’ll find nothing touting, “It’s just about finishing” or “Go Jogging”.

What I have done though, unlike for Fish Pie – where the designs were based on shirts first and the other stuff was basically a shirt design slapped onto a lot of other items – this time I started with posters and the gift stuff first, because you can be a lot more elaborate for printing on paper, tiles, mugs, etc. than you can on fabric. So most of the designs have two versions, an apparel version and an everything else version, click in and see.

Anyway, I really hope you like it, though I’m aware it may be way off your cup of tea – my vision can be a little, ahem…unique. No worries. It made me happy to create it all and like I said, who couldn’t use a great tax write-off? Hehe.
